Cruz'n for Roses Hot Rod & Classic Car Show 2009

Over 400 collector's cars lign up on Mission Street between Fair Oaks Ave. and the Gold Line on Sunday, September 20th 2009 from 10am to 3pm. Free!

Over 400 hot rods and classic cars will line the streets on the original Route 66 in South Pasadena on Sunday, September 20th 2009 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mission Street will be packed with the finest pre-1975 American customs, street rods, muscle cars, classics, and more. Individual collectors and clubs will compete for prizes on Mission Street from Fremont Avenue to the Gold Line crossing at Mission Station. The Fifth Annual Cruz’n for Roses Hot Rod & Classic Car Show promotes the city’s annual float in the Tournament of Roses on New Years Day, 2009.


The car show will feature incredible show-quality cars provided by the individual collectors and car clubs. The cars will be parked on Mission Street from the Gold Line Station to Fair Oaks Ave, which will be open to pedestrians only for the show. Also appearing will be classic motorcycles and antique fire engines. For the young and young at heart there will be a Police and Firefighters Open House and Safety Fair inside the Police and Fire Stations on Mound Avenue.
  
The day-long car show will feature exhibits, food, festivities and a car competition. On hand will also be a Dee Jay, spinning the oldies and cruising music.

The South Pasadena float is the oldest self-built entry in the Tournament. This year’s float theme is “Our Kids” and features a live strings orchestra in a setting that depicts all the classic architecture of the historic City of South Pasadena. The concept is an interpretation of the parade theme, “2010- A Cut Above the Rest” The South Pasadena Strings Program is known as the youngest orchestra to record at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
